About Jamie Pflughoeft

Jamie Pflughoeft ("flew-hoff"), an energetic and joyful Seattle native, has an innate obsession with dogs and a deep love for all animals, whether furry, feathered, finned or scaled. Jamie's love transferred over to her photography hobby in 1999 when she started working as a dogwalker and petsitter. Not content to merely admire animals from afar, Jamie studied animal behavior at the UW, then started her professional documentary-style pet photography business Cowbelly Pet Photography in 2003. When not capturing her characteristic fun, candid, colorful photos of pets in and around Seattle, you'll find her with her best (canine) friend Fergie, strolling through the Olympic Sculpture Park or romping on the beach at the Magnuson Park off-leash area.

Cowbelly Cuties: Bert and Millie the Fox Terriers

It may be the end of summer, but don't tell Bert and Millie that. These feisty old smooth-coated fox terriers swam and played on the beach at their home at Three Tree Point, a darling little beachfront community south of Seattle Washington. When not wading through the water or digging for clams, these two challenged each other to a game of 'whose ball is it anyway' and 'my stick- mine!'. 11 and 12 years old they may be, but these two are eternally young at heart.

Cowbelly Cuties: Loodie and Max

Loodie and Max's shoot was done at the beautiful Myrtle Edwards Park on the Seattle waterfront. Loodie, white, was a ham to end all hams, with a smile to die for. Max, black and tan, was painfully shy, but warmed to gentle tones of voice and a yummy treat or two. One thing was clear, even with their personality differences they appreciate and love each other and are best buddies.

Cowbelly Cuties: Kyah the German Shepherd Puppy

Kyah is a German Shepherd puppy whose cuteness is the kind that can stop cars in their tracks and make grown men cry. She is the new baby sister to Dozer and had her first trip to the big Marymoor off-leash dog park in Redmond Washington. There she learned how to swim, hide in the tall grass, eat weeds and even had her first kiss. She excelled at hiding behind her mom, who, coincidentally, works for Amazon.com! Kyah will soon join her big brother in trips to her mom's office at the exciting Amazon headquarters, where she will learn to be a mover and a shaker for the company.

Cowbelly Cuties: Fergie the Rhodesian-Lab Mix

This darling girl is Ferguson (Fergie for short). She is owned, cared for, and loved by photographer Jamie Pflughoeft, and has grown very used to having her picture taken. In fact, she loves it, as you can see from these shots of her. She was even happy to pose in the old chair for a solid ten minutes while Jamie snapped photos of her.

Fergie has quickly become the most photographed dog in Seattle. In these shots she is enjoying herself at one of her favorite places--Seattle's Magnuson Park. Fergie looks like Dozer doesn't she?

Cowbelly Cuties: Dozer the Mystery Mutt

What better place to have a canine photo shoot than on a sunny summer day at the beach? Dozer's shoot was at the popular off-leash dog beach at Magnuson Park (Seattle, WA) on a busy Saturday. Dozer hammed for the camera by giving his "happy face" while waiting for his ball to be thrown, then launching himself through the air after it. He finished off the shoot by taking a stroll through the lovely pea patch and posed nicely in the flowers.
