Dog Whisperer Magazine Launching Next Week
A new cult-of-personality magazine will launch next week featuring the affable Cesar Millan, called Cesar's Way. If you love Cesar Millan, you'll probably love this magazine. If you hate Cesar Millan, you can go back to reading O, Every Day with Rachael Ray, or back issues of Rosie and George.
Articles in the first spectacular issue will include "Can Your Dog Fix Your Marriage?" by dog and relationship expert Jada Pinkett Smith and "7-Day Doggie Detox", which will create a spike in veterinarian visits. You'll also find out what Sandra Lee is "cooking" for her dog. My guess? Something from a can.
Read more about the magazine at WSJ.com.

Victoria Stilwell needs a magazine NOT Cesar Millan. Its all about POSITIVE RENFORCEMENT, I don't think Cesar knows what that means.

if you 'hate' ceaser millan, you know a load of crap when you see, hear, and smell it.
He is an ex dog groomer, who happened to be the object of affection to a particular 'star' in hollywood, and from there, for some unknown, pathetic reason, was given air time on television, putting the art of dog training back to 25 years ago.
If you hate cesar milan, you are in wonderful company, and whoever the person advocating for this upcoming magazine of crap is, failed to mention where you can really learn the 'art' to dog training and the many pioneers of the dog training and behaivor 'progressive' movement. These trainers teach dogs to learn what is 'wanted' and are not 'punished' for doing anything that is not wanted, but simply redirected and/or ignored.
All veterinarian behaviorist warn against using ceasar's idiotic 'dominance' based ways of training or 'ruining' a dog.
Research has shown how his methods often backfire and cause more damage, yet people still sit in front of their tvs, believing everything this Mexican immigrant tells them, from a TV show, non the less. As if everything shown on TV is what 'really happened throuh out the shoot and all that was accomplished in the 15 minutes shown on tv?
Want a more fun, positive and pro active, progressive form of 'teaching?"
Here are names of people who have degrees in animal behavior, they use no form of aversives, such as prong, shock or choke collars.
The video on this site, were the guy is working 8 dogs in a 'show' like setting, showing different parlor tricks and really well 'learned' dogs, was accomplished by using techiques that cesar milan is not even smart enough to think of. He is not a thinking person, he is more of a 'muscle, force it to work, kind of guy, and will soon pay, hopefully by having his face bit off by one of his 'subjects.'
Pat Miller "The Power of Positive Training" Just one of her many wonderful books
Patrica Mcconnell "The other end of the leash" another wonderful book for someone not knowing much about how dogs learn.
Nichole Wilde- "Fearful dog" Nichole explains proper, and positive ways to bring a fearful, agressive dog out of that state of mind and back into it's comfort zone.
Turid Rugaas- "on talking terms with dogs: calming signals
Brenda Aloff- Canine Body Language-A photographic guide
Ian Dunbar- who you cannot go wrong by reading any of his books
Karen Pryor- same as above. Karen began using the same techniques on other animals that were used on Marine Mammals, a group of animals that cesar would have a hard time 'forcing' into submission.
These books and dvds can be purchased at www.dogwise.com
Forget about the whispering, it is something to 'shout' about.
Teach your dog to learn while you both have fun doing it. No fear, dominance, or intimidation needed.
anyway, by his own words, cesar does not 'train' dogs, he 'rehabilitates' them, and more often or not, they are worse for the wear.
I understand that once you get attached to a particular celebertiy it is hard to detach, but for the sake of dogs everywhere, and especially for those who may attempt using his methods, at least be objective when observing and understanding which methods are healthy for both the dogs and the owners. Faster results does not alays mean 'good results'. Many dogs have got to back to other trainers after having been put through the 'cesar' method by some back yard trainer who relys only on a television show for imformation.
There is a world of knowledge out there. I only invite you to look away from the television to find it.

Cesar is awesome. Tried a few of his methods at home (not supposed to, I know! Ha-ha!) and they ALL worked. Just can't deny it... Experience trumps a certificate every time.

It is not right to dress up our pets in clothes as if they are dolls to play with this way. You can se at the eyes of the pet that it is ashamed in this situation, and its also of the recommendation from various well estimed vetenarians not to treat pets this way. I get very upset when I see people do this.

He is an extremely gifted trainer, I have been training for 15 years and I am very good at it but I still aspire to be as effective as Cesar Millan. He knows how to treat dogs like DOGS, that is why his methods work. The fact that he does not simply run out of patience with some of the absolute MORONS who own the dogs is equally amazing! As to the naysayers who have posted here, you have NO IDEA what you are talking about and I hope to god you don't have pets!
Turks and Caicos Islands on September 10, 2010 at 03:24 PM
I would love to see Cesar come to the Turks and Caicos Islands to rehabilitate the potcake dogs there. They run wild and often attack tourists.
It would be nice if they could be rehabilitated rather than put down.

I have heard a lot about the magazine providing plenty of good tips and tricks for the healthy well being of the pets and especially dog. There were many of my uncles who were a regular customers to have this magazine at a nearby book store. That just speaks about how famous it was.

I really do not care much of Oscar's personality. The guys methods work to insure that your dog's issues are sorted. It is not easy to deal with a dog who has issues.
