Rachael Ray is Trying to Kill Your Dog
by Spanno

Rachael Ray, whilst promoting her line of "Nutrish" dog food, shared a human food recipe with Modern Dog magazine. The problem? She never mentioned that the dish is for human consumption only and might kill your dog. The recipe, called Isaboo's Butternut Squash Mac and Cheddar, contains gobs of cheese, butter, heavy cream, and onions--which are potentially fatal to dogs. Here's the deadly recipe listed as "Pet Friendly" on her website.

So sad we have descended into a society where animals are more important than people.
Where do all these animal obsessives come from?
Who would ever give their dog "mac and cheese" besides Leona Helmsley?
A little onion and chocolate never hurt any dog--although why you'd ever feed them either during the course of a healthy upbringing is beyond me.

My dog eats everything.
He would eat Rachael Ray.
But who wouldn't?

Ye gods, listen to the hysteria! "Anyone who owns a dog knows onions and chocolate can be fatal. I bet she doesn't even own a dog!!"
Um, Suzy? Dogs eat onions. Some eat chocolate, too. As has been noted, the poison is in the dose. And did you read the article? She lost Boo and found another dog. Get a grip.
And the other hysterics can relax as well; RR's recipe has been dutifully updated to exhort you to "Always check with your vet about which foods are appropriate for you to share with your pet."

This recipe would not be fatal to any dog. The funniest part is the idea that cheese and butter are fatal to dogs. Dogs love cheese and butter, and I have yet to see one drop dead from it, and I've owned probably 15 dogs in my life.

Seriously, that's so over the top. I doubt RR is intentionally trying to kill your dog. Yeah we know you love dogs but come' on. Get lucid.

Still, it's a long way from Paula Deen's man-hating, artery clogging cheeseburgers on doughnuts.

Been a dog owner for over 30 years and had no idea onions were bad for your dog. Chocolate yes, onions no. Our dogs have always only gotten dog food and meat scraps so not knowing hasn't been a problem.
I love how a confident, cheerful, self-made woman like Rachel Ray inspires such virulent sneering. Reminds me of all the Sarah Palin hate. I guess Paris Hilton, whose claim to fame is public sex on the Internet and having a rich daddy, would be more to your taste.

Our dogs Loooove McDonalds' hamburgers. With ketchup, mustard, pickles, and onions. Yes! The deadly bulb itself!

Onion poisoning can occur with a single ingestion of large quantities OR with repeated meals containing small amounts of onion. A single meal of 600 to 800 grams of raw onion can be dangerous whereas a ten-kilogram dog, fed 150 grams of onion for several days, is likely to develop anaemia. The condition improves once the dog is prevented from eating any further onion.

10 kilograms is about 22 pounds, 150 grams is a little over 5 ounces.

I hate Rachel Ray

Cheese, butter and cream are very bad for an adult dog. Read any dog books you bunch of morons. And Rachel Ray usually tops off her fat induced receipes with some sort of shredded or gratted cheese. No wonder she is chubby. I give her ten years and she'll be a little whale. Notice her abnrmally gouly mouth! God bless her she is milking her middle of america popularity to its fullest potential. But she annoys the hell out of me and I would not consider what she does cooking or her a cook by any means. By the way her publicity photos are photoshopped to the max. I have seen her in person and she is chunkeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

PEOPLE shouldn't even be eating her food, let alone dogs. I don't care if it's not enough onions to kill a dog, it is unhealthy for pets to be eating crap like this. She's just utterly annoying and now we can add on irresponsible.
