We have had cats with the following names:
Bimini - female grey tabby who wandered up pregnant
Aruba - daughter of Bimini
Turbo - black/white male stray with an awsome purr
Studebaker - solid black orphan from our vet
Mercedes - calico sister of Studebaker
and now, Ranger - orange tabby cat who was abandoned in our neighborhood. He got his name cause he used to 'range' around but now he has discovered the good life of being an inside kitty.

We named our kitten, who was born on July 4th, Yankee Doodle Dandy. She pretty much answered to Doodle. Her nick names were: Mouse Mouth, Tuna Tongue, Lizard Lips, and Walrus Whiskers. She REALLY didn't like Lizard Lips -- she's start whipping her tail back and forth, and her ears would shift into B52 mode.
And then there was the long haired black and white runt kitten with incredibly short stumpy legs. So short and stumpy, she had problems, uh, when she answered the call of nature. We'd have to wash her bottom for her. We called her Polly LePew. She was a pistol. She lived less than a year -- she had major organ defects due her to her runt status. But she was the most loving, friendly, fearless, joyful cat we've ever had.
Almost all of the other cats had somewhat normal names:
Lightfoot -- because when he ran, he sounded like a tank approaching
Raisin -- a tortoiseshell
Topaze - a yellow tabby
Tiki - a grey tabby (Tiger Kitty)
Tac - yeah, cat backwards...we're so lame
Midnight -- all black persian
Sugar (formerly Dame Judith Shera LeeAnne) -- a manx
Smokey -- A russian blue
Joe Montana -- a siamese

I have enjoyed so many of these cool names. We live in Utah, and have named some of our cats after famous Mormon people, even tho we're not active in the Mormon faith. Examples - Joseph (Joseph Smith), Eliza (his 2nd polygamous wife!), Porter (after Joseph's bodyguard, Porter Rockwell),and Spencer (Spencer Kimball, a former church president).

We named our cat Chiazzato and call him Zatto for short - he's white with black patches all over - and in Italian his name means patched or spotted one.........
