Ratchet the Iraq Puppy is Finally Going to Minnesota
Ratchet, a black and white mutt, was born in Baghdad, Iraq to a life of misery and certain death. For the most part, dogs are considered nuisances in Iraq. At only four-weeks-old, Ratchet was discovered in a burning trash pile by U.S. soldiers. He was adopted by Sgt. Gwen Beberg, who described Ratchet as big comfort in an otherwise tough year.
For the past few weeks, Sgt. Beberg has been trying to get Ratchet on a plane to her hometown of Spring Lake Park, Minnesota before she moves to a different base. Initially this request was denied by a superior officer, but by the power of the internet and a few helpful U.S. Senators, Ratchet was finally cleared for departure. Sgt. Beberg hopes that Ratchet will find his way to the states by this weekend.

With so much turmoil in our world, it is wonderful to read a happy ending to an inseparable human/animal duo such as Gwen Beberg and pup Ratchet finally be together home in Minnesota. I am a pretty much an animal lover which in I had dogs and cats as pets... they are the very best friends a human can have..they are so therapeutic, they don't talk back after you have had a bad at the office, they are always happy to see when you come home because the most painful and lonely time for a pet is when they see you leave the house because of the fear they will never see you again, and the unconditional love they lavish on you. They don't care if you're fat or skinny or ugly or pretty..they accept you just the way you are wholehheartedly!!

Yes, they love us even when we don't deserve their affection, but in this case, Sgt. Beberg deserves every moment of joy she experiences with Ratchet. I hope that their life together will be blessed with happiness.

Dogs are nuisances in Iraq? Are they treated the same as we treat rats? Just a thought here. They're both animals, but rats are often treated terribly pretty much everywhere that I can think of...
