Neutering Exotic Pets

Fieldmouse There are many ways people come into ownership of exotic pets. However it happens, the responsibility to take care of them well is in your hands. For the furry creatures, especially when you have one of each sex, consider having them spayed or neutered. Neutering decreases the number of furry creatures you are responsible for. If you want more, you can adopt more but at least you are not subject to the efficient and highly productive reproductive cycle of the little ones.

For example, mice can have a dozen babies almost every month and those babies can start having their dozens of babies within 2-3 months! Besides population control, neutering is effective at reducing aggression, reducing the potency of urine odor and, in ferrets, helping to reduce their muskiness. Ask your vet for recommendations of where to get it done if they don’t do it there. Wherever you go, inquire and insist on pain control for the procedure.

Comments

One of my favorite books since I was a little kid is Ellis Parker Butler's "Pigs is Pigs".

Probably suppressed for political incorrectness now days.
