Give Your Cats a Sense of Freedom
Every time I looked into our cats’ eyes, they told me that, although all needs (food, water, play, and a place to go to the bathroom) were met, they just wanted to go outside! This sounds simple enough but our house is located on a pretty busy street and the chance of being hit by a car is too high to risk. We recently built a screened-in porch and we started letting them out on the porch so they can enjoy the sights and smells of the backyard.
After opening the doors for them over and over, we installed a Cat Windoor in the window that is between the house and the porch. They (and we) love it!! They come and go as they please and we are not loosing our air conditioning (very important in hot and humid Tennessee!). It was easy to install and the cats took to it immediately since they already use a pet door to get into the garage where their litter box resides (all the mess and smell is in the garage instead of the house--great idea!!). Now all I have to do is make sure I keep the bird feeders full so they get plenty of visual exercise (and the birds get full bellies!).
