Lion Cub Bonds with Tom Cat

Rejected by her mother, Zara the lion cub would not have survived had she not been taken in by the director of England's Cambridgeshire zoo.

Zara has to be bottle fed daily by Kim Simmons and has become close, although temporary, friends with Simmons' tom cat, Arnie.

Said Simmons, "Arnie the cat loves having cubs in the house and the two are great friends, but we'll have to guard him as Zara gets bigger and stronger."

What Not to Feed Your Pet

While it's very tempting to feed your pet pieces of whatever you're eating--especially when they give you "that look"--certain people foods can be potentially deadly. MSNBC recently broke down what foods are bad and what foods are good for your pet.

The bad list includes avocados, chocolate, grapes, and onions. The good list includes carrots, lean meats, and bread.

See the full lists at MSNBC.com.

Two-Legged Puppy Gets Landing Gear

A two-legged Maltese born without front legs got some help from an orthotist, who created "makeshift shoulder joints connected to model airplane wheels." Hope now gets around just fine on her new limbs and can "bound across a room at a surprisingly break-neck pace".

Flavored Bottled Water for Dogs

If your dog is just too good for tap water or even regular bottled water, then you might need to buy one of the breeds of canine-friendly bottled water.

Hero Enhanced Dog Water has joined a growing field of completely unnecessary drinks for your dog. Other brands include FortiFido, PetRefresh, and K9 Water Co.

K9 Water Co. at least takes a humorous approach, with flavors called Toilet Water, Puddle Water, Hose Water, and Gutter Water.

Epic Struggle: Robots vs. Pets

Until dogs can be trained to clean rugs, U.S. households are going to have an increasing problem with pet aggression towards robots. With the rise in popularity of iRobot's Roomba vacuum cleaners, Pleo, and other robotic toys, pet owners are becoming vigilant about keeping the peace between robots and pets--or at least videotaping the ensuing mayhem and uploading it to YouTube.

A recent article in the Wall Street Journal highlighted the growing dilemma for pet-loving techophiles. Read all about this distinctly 21st-century problem here.
